Eckerö Line, Helsinki - Tallinn

While visiting the capital city of Finland Helsinki, I got a brilliant idea to visit the neighborhood country of Estonia and the city of Tallinn which is only like 2,5 hours boat ride away. Tallinn is now a proud European capital with an allure all its own. It's lively yet peaceful, absurdly photogenic and bursting with wonderful sights – ancient churches, medieval streetscapes, and noble merchants' houses. Throw in delightful food and vibrant modern culture and it's no wonder Tallinn seems in danger of being loved to death, especially after a few cruises’ ships dock. But it's one of those blessed places that seems to cope with all the attention.

Boarding Eckerö Line in Helsinki seems super easy; I´ve got my boarding pass already through an e-mail but even if you haven´t done so, you can do it by the counter or in a self-service kiosk in the departure hall. The terminal is located at the South Terminal 2 – easily reached by car, tram or via foot from the city. Once on the board, you are stunned to discover, it has several docks filled with shopping, entertainment, and dining options. If you decide to travel by car, you can also do so and leave your car on the specifically designed deck for cars only.

Even, if it´s for a short ride, you have a possibility to book one of its cabins to lay down for a bit and relax before your day ahead in Tallinn. However, I would definitely recommend you wander around and spend some time in a duty-free shop, enjoy some of the live entertainment (there are usually some local bands or singer playing) or just simply head to the business lounge where you can enjoy peacefulness and quiet space among other travelers.

Lounge is a relaxing way to travel onboard MS Finlandia. Your own comfortable seat and good refreshments are waiting for you in the peaceful living room on deck 6. They offer sweet and savory snacks that are made in m/s Finlandia's kitchen. There is also fruits, coffee, tea, soft drinks and wine and beer available. You can pre-book your seat when booking your trip for an extra charge. Highlight of the stay in business lounge was for sure Ms. Kristina who is the attendant and who´s got the brilliant customer service. Not only she knows almost everyone but is able to give you details on what to see and try in Tallinn.

If you want to try something else, the dining options give you the possibilities to go for Eckerö Buffet restaurant where you can enjoy the best Finnish and Nordic seasonal ingredients. They change the menu 5-6 times a year. Fish and meat lovers will find their favorite food among the delicacies of the buffet but they also think of passengers with gluten and lactose intolerance, many dishes are free of these substances and are also properly labeled (thumbs up Eckerö Line).

Therefore, if you are looking for the easiest way to visit either Tallinn or Helsinki, Eckerö Line is the right choice for you. Boat filled with dining and entertainment onboard promise you will not get bored during that short journey. For more information, do not hesitate to visit its website and book your journey or specific packages tailored for you.
